CONICAL OGIVE ZINC ANODE

The conical zinc anode, for Radice- and Beneteau-type inboard propeller shafts: the tapered profile fits the shaft precisely, maximising contact area and therefore protection. Installation is straightforward and doesn't require a professional.

Sacrificial anodes wear away in place of the metal parts they protect from galvanic corrosion: they must be checked and replaced once wear exceeds 60%, since beyond that point they no longer provide effective protection. Zinc or aluminium is used in seawater (aluminium, for equal protection, weighs a third less, has a higher electronegative potential and is less polluting, making it especially suited to aluminium hulls); magnesium is preferred for freshwater-only use.
