FIRELINE ZINC ANODE

The zinc anode shaped for Fairline hulls, bolted directly onto the hull at the point specified by the builder.
Sacrificial anodes wear away in place of the metals they protect from galvanic corrosion: they must be checked and replaced once wear exceeds 60%%, since beyond that point they lose their protective capacity. Zinc or aluminium is used in seawater (aluminium, for equal protection, weighs a third less, has a higher electronegative potential and is less polluting, making it especially suited to aluminium hulls); magnesium is preferred for freshwater-only use.
