VETUS TYPE ZINC ANODE

The zinc anode shaped to match the dimensions of Vetus outdrive legs and transmissions, to be replaced once wear reaches the safety threshold.
Sacrificial anodes wear away in place of the metal parts they protect from galvanic corrosion: they must be checked and replaced once wear exceeds 60%, since beyond that point they no longer provide effective protection. Zinc or aluminium is used in seawater (aluminium, for equal protection, weighs a third less, has a higher electronegative potential and is less polluting, making it especially suited to aluminium hulls); magnesium is preferred for freshwater-only use.
